My gaming machine stopped turning on yesterday night. The power button was always picky about having to hit it just the right way.
Ok, no problem. I'll just move the drive to an older machine. Windows 2000 doesn't get past the "Starting Windows" text boot screen. I expected this, all I have to do is a repair install on the drive, right?
Start the repair install and it gets far enough along to ask me for my Regional settings, and then hangs up when I hit next. I'm suddenly out of options to try, short of a re-install.
This should be easy, all I need to do is replace the hard drive controller drivers and everything else should fall into place. This shouldn't be a 5 hour process.
Stupid software.
