Chapter Three
In the kitchen there was a big mess. All the cupboards were open and some dishes were lying on the dirty floor, so that someone could easily slip on them. A big person was almost stuck in one of the cupboards, bending down and exploring it with his head in it. He looked through it for a few seconds, then he made some steps backwards and straightened up again.
"Where is it?!" Shindong shouted out loud, getting more and more annoyed. He went to the last cupboard that he hadn't explored yet but he didn't find there what he was looking for either. Finally, he kicked the furniture furiously and left the kitchen, heading to the living room. When he noticed Leeteuk sitting on the couch with Heechul and Sungmin playing on a game console with Donghae, he quickly went closer to them and decided to do some research.
"Has anyone here seen this big knife which I'm always cutting meat with?" the boy asked the other ones who now started to pay some attention to him. However, it looked like nobody really knew where the said thing had gone...
"What? Isn't it on its place? Have you looked everywhere in the kitchen, hyung?" Donghae stared at Shindong and the latter nodded.
"If I hadn't, I wouldn't come here and ask you all. It's not there. I looked through the unwashed dishes and in all the cupboards and it's gone. Maybe someone took it and forgot to put it back?"
"Why should anyone take this big knife out of the kitchen?" the younger one wondered with widened eyes, Shindong then shrugged.
"I have no idea! But I really need it, I can't cut the meat without it, it is the best knife we have, it's so sharp that it could even kill someone..."
"YAH!" Leeteuk suddenly interrupted the other one harshly. "You! Watch your talking, after what happened you better not make such stupid remarks!"
"Sorry, Jungsoo..." Shindong whispered and lowered his head.
Silence fell in the whole room and nobody could say a word, thinking about how they had tragically lost their friend two days before. It was hard to live with and they were in a depressed mood all the time, though they tried to do everything to stop their sadness. That's why Donghae and Sungmin found great interest in the game console, Leeteuk started to read every single book they had in the dorms, Shindong was becoming a professional cook, Ryeowook tried to get in a better condition by jogging, Yesung bought five new turtles, Kyuhyun was using his computer like usual and Eunhyuk was studying English.
Everything, just to forget about the big tragedy.
Heechul was the only one who couldn't do other things to keep his attention away from Siwon. He was either staring blankly ahead, smoking or calling Hangeng to cry over the phone about his sorrow.
And he couldn't understand how the other members were able to do otherwise.
"I have a bad feeling about this..." Sungmin mumbled suddenly and everyone sent him a worried look. He bit his lower lip and turned to Shindong. "Has something like this happened before, Donghee? Have you ever lost the knife?"
"No. It's the first time."
"A missing knife, right after a murder occurred..." The boy frowned and shivered. "This is somehow scary..."
***
Policeman: We have a problem... The main suspect got killed last night.
Leeteuk: WHAT? You mean Junsu?!
PM: Yes. Kim Junsu was found dead in an alley, lying on the ground in blood.
LT: This... can't be true. How did it happen?
PM: Once again, we are not sure yet but it looks like he got stabbed into the back with something sharp, most likely a knife. The murderer cleared all possible evidence again. Moreover, we don't know now if it was the same murderer in this and the previous crime or if this are two completely different cases.
LT: ...I see. And how about Junsu's suspicion regarding Siwon's murder?
PM: Ah, yes. Well, Junsu wasn't the murderer after all. His alibi was true, we checked the cameras in the supermarket he had talked about and he was indeed shopping when the crime happened. This makes everything more complicated now though because a third person must be the culprit and we don't have any clues at all.
LT: So you won't be able to find the murderer? Or murderers?
PM: It will be hard but we won't give up trying, now we have to look for some witnesses, maybe someone saw the crimes. And we will precisely check the dead bodies, maybe this can also give us some hints.
LT: I see. Do you have more information for us?
PM: No, that's all I had to say.
LT: Ok. Thank you for calling, officer. Please keep us informed about everything new.
PM: Alright, we will. We will work hard to find the culprit or culprits. If we don't find out anything, we'll hand this case over to a higher office.
Leeteuk put his phone aside and stared in great shock at the wall in front of him. Yesung came closer to him and tapped his shoulder.
"What's going on, hyung? Was it the police?"
The leader nodded but remained silent, trying to understand the whole situation. But not only the turtle lover, also the other members got interested in the elder's sudden call, so Leeteuk got quickly surrounded by everyone and he finally had to explain what had happened.
After informing them about everything, the atmosphere became similar to the one which had been present when they had gotten to know about Siwon's death. Eunhyuk ran out of the room, bursting out in tears; Sungmin followed him but he realized that Eunhyuk locked himself in his room so he then returned to the others.
"Should I try and go to him?" Donghae asked Sungmin when he saw him coming back but the latter shook his head.
"I think he wants to be alone now."
Ryeowook started to ask Leeteuk for more informations about the murder. After a few minutes of chaos amongst the members, Yesung got lost in his thoughts for a while, then he came up with a question:
"Wait, guys, haven't you lost your knife earlier? Maybe it is somehow related to the murder?"
The whole dorm became quiet and awkward. They looked at each other and everyone started to think about it, though it was too frightening to consider. Leeteuk let out a short sigh and whispered:
"This can't be true..."
Kyuhyun went closer to Yesung and Sungmin, turning his head towards the older one.
"So you think that somebody has broken into their dorm?" he asked and put his hands around Sungmin's waist. The latter however pushed him away and stared at both with a serious expression.
"It also could be one of the members..." he mumbled.
"What the fuck are you saying?!" Suddenly Heechul's angry voice resounded from behind. "This is ridiculous! How can you accuse any of us? Aren't we like family?!"
The startled Sungmin started to explain himself. "We should consider every option, this is murder what we're talking about!"
At that moment Yesung cut in, looking at the boy with shocked disbelief.
"Why should any of us want to murder Siwon and Junsu?!"
First, Sungmin didn't know the answer for this question but then he remembered one thing; he sent a suspicious glance in Heechul's direction and thought about the quarrel he had had with the DBSK member two days ago...
Heechul. I'll keep an eye on you.
