Theoretically, a want arises when the actual situation cannot satisfy or fall short of the requirements of an expectation. Therefore, one will feel satisfied when the actual situation meets or exceeds the expectation. In most cases, the simplest decision is to start finding ways to improve or change the current situation so that it would tend towards the expectation. But what happens if getting rid of a want, or to change the expectation? The simplest decision; to change the current situation may not, however, be the simplest way to feel satisfied.
Of course, extinguishing a heart's desire is not an easy task. Often the mind's desire may not match the heart's desire. Again, this creates a new form of unfulfilled desire meaning a more unsatisfied person if it cannot be achieved.
Seeking the easiest way out, the simplest way out of satisfying the so many desires in life, is not that simple.
