I wanted to let everyone know that I have a second interview with the ALS Association (ie. the Lou Gehrig's Association) for a Special Events Coordinator. My first interview was a 40 minute phone conversation with the ALS Recruiter. This interview will be a 15-20 minute interview to schedule a time to meet in person. I think I am very fortunate to have land this job since I orginally applied for it on Monster.com and I was chosen 1 out of 5 people to be on the first phone call since over 400 people applied for the position!!! I think I'm now 3 out of 5 people chosen for the second phone interview. To give you a background of what I would be doing is similar to the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer (MSABC) Event and the Relay For Life (RFL) Events at the American Cancer Society. The MSABC Event is a non-competitive 3.5 mile walk that raises money specifically towards breast cancer. The RFL Event is also a non-competitive walk, but it goes on for 24 hours and it raises a lot more money than the MSABC Event and it would be for all cancers. In short, I would be putting on a large-scale non-competitive walking event that would raise between $250,000 to $600,000. I would be responsible for managing the teams, recruiting volunteers, managing the budget, coordinating the press, and running the event. It would be full-time of course (except for the week that the event takes place) and I would be getting paid $40,000 to $45,000 per year. The location would be in Troy, so only 35-40 minutes from my place in Canton. I am very excited that I have gotten this far in the process. Wish me luck!!
