Dear Maksim Efimov,
10 December 2013 marks the 65th anniversary of the passage of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
We are pleased to invite you to the Annual Conference of the Estonian Institute of Human Rights, which will take place in Tallinn on 10 December 2013.
This year’s annual conference, titled „Human Rights and the Freedom of Association“ will analyse the global developments in human rights that have taken place in 2013. The topics under discussion include crimes against humanity, the role of NGOs in authoritarian and totalitarian states, and how to combine counter terrorism measures with the protection of human rights in the real world and in cyberspace.
At the beginning of the conference the results of the „Freedom of Religion in Estonia“ survey, which was conducted by the Estonian Institute of Human Rights and Turu-uuringute AS in 2013, will be introduced.
Last year’s annual human rights conference received very high marks from both the participants and the attendees. This year, we have also invited internationally recognised human rights practitioners and experts, who represent various international institutions and renowned NGOs, such as the Human Rights Watch, Freedom House, National Democratic Institute, Amnesty International, Greenpeace Russia, to give presentations and to attend this year’s conference.
The evening will end with a formal reception at 6 p.m., which will be hosted by Foreign Minister Urmas Paet.
President Toomas Hendrik Ilves is the patron of the conference and the organiser is the Estonian Institute of Human Rights.
