For 17 Days, I Watched

For the past 17 days, i took part in somthing that can only be described as magical. For the past 17 days i have found somthing that only comes around every 4 years. Somthing that people work for, and make incredable efforts to be at. For the past 17 days, I along with most of the world watched the Winter olympics. And there was somthing about it this time around that rang truer than anything before. As i was watching a Skier from Iraq finished last in the race. But he was still as proud as the first place winner. He was there, he finished the race, 50Km after the start, well after the race was really over. But on his face was what can only be described as pride, for the flag he is wearing for what he had just done, and for what he is, an olympian.

But also for the past 17 days, our nation has looked past some of the greatest that sport has to offer, people like brian gumble, and most of america don't care for the winter olympics. They would rather watch American Idol. For 17 days, I watched American represent their country with the utmost pride, and passion. The motto for these games, Passion Lives Here, just look at the Itilan Mens 4x10Km Relay team. When they won Gold, you thought that there was no wrong in the world, the medal ceramony in the plaza was just amazing. Seeing them sing their national anthume, nothing on american idol can compare.

What is fleating fame, insted you got to love The olympics. They are a celabration of everything that is right with sport, no logos on the walls, nothing, just those 5 rings, and a city name, who put on a show like none other. For once a motto lived up to its hype, Passion dose infact live there, and it lives inside of all of the athletes that took part in these the 20th Winter games. From the French Skier who had a run that had people saying he looked like he was posessed.

For the past 17 days i watched the world, i watched what i love about sports, the passion, the ideals of sportsmanship, and the pride that everyone shows in the end.

For the past 17 Days, I watched.
