Thank You as Art Review for Gift as Art
Hello everyone in Livejournalland,
First off, thanks to everyone who came to Sandy and my's wedding. Um, mine and Sandy's wedding. Sandy and mines's wedding??
Thanks to everyone who came to the wedding of Sandy and, um, myself. (argh) We had a great time, and hope you all did too. Sandy is currently buried under a pile of thank you notes, but those should be finished by 2008, maybe 2009. We were also planning to send out some postcards from Hawaii, but we got kind of busy, yknow, having fun in Hawaii. Maybe I'll do those while Sandy does the thank yous.
Thanks to the generosity of y'all (as well as the gigantic brood of Sandyrelatives) we now have more stuff than we know what to do with. One room in our apartment is literally filled from floor to ceiling with Bed Bath and Beyond Boxes. We now have kitchen appliances whose purpose is entirely a mystery to me, though Sandy assures me that the culinary possibilities are now endless.
One gift (from my sister) deserves special mention, mostly for its presentation. The gift arrived in a cuisinart food processor box, taped together at the ends, and with an address label stuck on one side. "This is odd," said Max. "Well, at least we know it's not a food processor." (There's a fairly long Spitzer tradition of shipping/wrapping things in the boxes of other things, just to confuse the recipient). But lo and behold, it WAS a cuisinart food processor - looking as though someone had opened the box, put it back in the box, taped it up and shipped it off. Inside was the title of the piece, on a yellow sticky:

Further inspection revealed that the picture on the box had been defaced, and the settings "Chop" and "Grind" had been replaced with "Bump" and "Grind". Brilliant stuff. Just more proof that those wackos are always doing something clever...
