Hey all. I know...it's been forever since I've posted. Life is crazy and yet not interesting enough to actually write anything about. Funny how that works. So, what have I been up too lately? Well, April passed by with ScriptFrenzy. I got through issue 11 of my comic book; I still need to write issue 12, but there's been a hold up because I need to change one of the characters. I was going to make him an Interpol agent, but I think it would work a lot better to him some kind of Japanese state authority...like FBI, only for the Japanese. That means a bit of research to see what exactly that would be called.
We also had a bit of "moving" drama. We decided that our one-bedroom apartment wasn't worth the money we pay in rent each month, so we started looking around for places to move to. I made a short list of potentials; a rental townhouse community not far from where we live now, and a place in Springfield that was very inexpensive. The townhouses only allowed one pet, and as we have two pets that was off the table. The inexpensive place in Springfield was income restricted and I alone make more than the maximum allowed for 8 people living in a 3 bedroom, so that was off. They referred us to another Springfield property that actually looked decent, but my husband exploded over the $700 pet fee we would have had to pay. Still, this place looked like the best bet.
Well, shortly after our day of looking, the townhouse place called us up and asked why we hadn't gone any further into their process. My husband explained that it was the pet policy, which was silly because we lived in a one bedroom apartment with the animals, and surely a townhouse would have more room than that. Also, our pets are lazy. A couple days later they called back and said, "We're changing the policy. You can have two pets. Come on down." We went, we looked, we liked, we signed the papers. We put in to move in July, giving our current place the required 60 days notice.
And then the fun began. Apparently the current place we live doesn't like people breaking lease, even with the required amount of notice. If we left in July, we would have to pay either 2 months rent as a break lease fee, or two months rent up front, then keep paying rent until the lease is up or someone rents the apartment. Since our lease is up at the end of October, this would have only meant we would have needed to pay for September (August and October would have been covered by the two months rent). But, there was no way we would have two months rent available to pay either way and still be able to afford to move. So, we called up the townhouses and asked what options we have there. They put us on a "waiting list" which means we don't have to pay deposits or app fees again, and we can go over there when we're ready and pick out any available unit we want. We'll also retain the special offer we were going to be getting ($200 off each months' rent for the year) which is really what I was most concerned about. All this means is, we'll be moving in November instead of July. It ended up not being a big deal, and that gives us more time to save up a bit more.
Had enough? I didn't think so...the final bit of news I have to share is, it looks like I may be getting some minor surgery. I have a lipoma (fat deposit) on my leg that's causing some issues. I'm going to be getting it removed and hopefully some of the pain and numbness I experience in that leg and foot will be addressed. I do wonder if I'll be able to get my cardio for awhile after the surgery though. If not, I guess I'll just have to focus on non-impact swimming or something. Hum...
Okay, that's all I have to say. You can go now. Thanks for stopping by!
