September 11th has become a time of reflection and remembrance here in the US. It's been eight years since the events that both rocked and galvanized this country and in that time there has been much good and bad that has happened in the world. But I think it's important for those of us here in the US to remember what happened and who was lost and the great acts of heroism that saved many more.
I am not a hero or a soldier or a man of any note so I must honor the fallen with my own memory. I pay my taxes so our soldiers can fight, I obey the laws so our police and emergency workers can concentrate on other problems.
I am grateful to live in this country and have all the opportunities I have. I worry that we cannot seem to share this effectively with other countries, especially those that have been given a measure of freedom and self governance. I don't know how to affect change for them but at least for here I will continue to try and keep my country strong and free.
For everyone safe at home, I pray you have a quiet, satisfying day. For those in service anywhere that danger is present, I pray you have a safe day and thank you for your service.
