X002. to pick a pumpkin

[The video opens up to show an expansive pumpkin patch. The view of the camera seems to come from a bit above ground level and moves as if on top of someone's head. After a few minutes, the view shifts downwards to show a blue arm and a hand pressing some buttons on said arm.]

Zero! He's... stronger than I remember...

I'm not surprised. He gets stronger every time he comes back.

You said you're in that pumpkin patch in the outskirts of the city?

[Cannon fire followed by more static.]

[He didn't even bother to stop once he reached the location. He was pretty much certain that this place wasn't here when he surveyed the area a few weeks ago. None of that mattered now, though. He had to find X, with or without any information to go on. The only thing he could do now was cover as much ground as he could without wasting any time.]

I let him out of my sight for two seconds...

[X was crouched behind a tree, stalked by the imposing figure of Sigma himself. He'd spent the last few minutes trying to retrace his steps from where he entered the pumpkin patch to try and rally with Zero, but the place seemed like a maze. This Sigma seemed stronger than the one he finished off a few weeks ago, but Zero had mentioned he always got stronger. Right now he was clutching a large gash across his chest. He glanced up just in time to see a tree explode and Sigma come dashing straight towards him.]

Ghaaah!

[What followed was the telltale sound of more charged buster fire.]

[It was Sigma all right. But something seemed off... He couldn't quite put his finger on it. Though right now that nagging feeling was the least of his worries. Attack first, ask questions later was the best course of action sometimes. He charged his buster, aimed, and fired it at Sigma's back.]

Zero!

[X was never happier to see his partner than right then. He couldn't hold off 'Sigma' by himself. The lucky blow he'd taken at the beginning of the fight had drained him harshly. He watched as Zero attacked Sigma and quickly rushed to his friends side, mentally going over which of his eight weapon systems he still had and which would help them the most.]

He... he's different, Zero...

I know, you're still pretty new to this. You took out Sigma before coming here, right? Well, he's going to come back with a bigger, badder body to fight you with every time.

[He takes out his Z-Saber and takes a stance.]

He's a lot like the last time we fought him, I think. Something's off, though.

[He dashes at Sigma while dodging his blasts and strikes once, cutting off one of his arms.]

[That's new. X hasn't seen Zero fight like this before. He watches for a moment before gritting his teeth and darting to the side. His body turns a light blue color with some yellow mixed in as he points his cannon Sigma.]

Something's off? Like what?

[He's talking on the run as he does his best to get behind their enemy. A large shard of ice explodes out the front of his buster and pegs Sigma in the back.]

[Zero knew Sigma, probably better than anyone else did. He was all about his ego and one thing he loved more than anything was to gloat. This 'Sigma' wasn't doing any of that.]

He's missing the gloating, for one thing.

[He charges his saber with electricity and goes for another strike.]

Can't disagree with you there...

[Come to think of it, X hadn't even heard 'Sigma' say anything at all. That wasstrange. There isn't much time to dwell on it, however. X switches weapons once more as he takes cover behind a tree, firing off a few rockets that instantly change direction and fly toward 'Sigma'.]

[Sigma was definitely getting slower. That was a good sign, at least.]
