Where I'm from, Mavericks are reploids who have gone rogue and attack humans or other reploids. It's not a rebellion on the scale you mentioned, but the situation seems similar.

They were based around my design and I have no such programming, but I was tested for a number of years go make sure I was mature enough to interact with humanity.
