So... I'm having issues deciding whether to try and sew something or just buy something.

Unfortunately my tastes run rather expensive (could be worse, but still looking at the $700-$2000 range).

I want something that isn't -incredibly- formal. I want to avoid taffeta and huge billowing skirts. It might be cold in May so I'll probably need some kind of overcoat since I want a corset top. I'm also going for a 1870s Victorian/steampunk theme.

So this is what I've found so far, please feel free to give me your opinion! And/or let me know if you know a site/designer that's similar!
