So... my creativity is boundless. Ok, maybe repressed and now spilling out is more accurate. This is a good sign.
I would like to run a nWoD mortals troupe game during this slow LARP time of the year. 4-5 players (although one-game drop-ins will be ok depending on the session). For those of you who don't know my style very well, I run RP & exposition heavy storylines focusing on mystery, cthonic horror, madness, and occult. Backgrounds are much more important than dots. I often narrate combat and play a lot with destiny vs free will. I would describe my games as closer to a "Choose Your Own Adventure" book than a real dice-rolling experience.
Why mortals?
I watched the Langoliers last night and 30 Days of Night recently and am excited to run a game from the point of view of "WHAT'S GOING ON!?"
Why nWoD?
Mortal characters may not -stay- mortal depending on choices made at various points. This is a setting I know fairly well and feel confident running; I'm not quite obsessed enough to invent my own universe just yet. And at this point I'm getting tired of trying to rehash oWoD.
Why Troupe?
The usual reasons: the Cam bureaucracy is pissing me off and I dislike having my creativity reigned in when I'm storytelling.
The games will be at my (& Tyler's) apartment on nights when we have nothing to do. Yes, it will be sporadic, so if you have a difficult schedule, please don't be offended if a game gets run without you. This is just a game to kill time since we get kicked out of our LARP space weekend after next. Also, as a side note, please leave your Cam baggage at the door. This game will be open to everyone in our social circle. If this makes you uncomfortable, go play WoW. =p
Character creation:
Basic stats + 10xp (more will be assigned after I see/hear your background). If you want to play anything even remotely unusual (military, highly qualified at anything, psychic, ghoul, etc) you must clear this with me before you even submit a character sheet. We will use table top rules from the nWoD core book.
All this being said, I'm not sure precisely when the first game will be. Probably not until after finals, so I apologize to the students who would like to play but will be out of town. Tyler and I will be gone from 12/25 to 1/5, as well. I'll send out Facebook invites when I have decided to get things going (assuming there is enough interest).
