Crash (Matt Dillon, Ryan Phillipe, Don Cheadle and others) (2005)
Intrigued to see this one and whilst it was not ground breaking or exceptional it was entertaining. Essentially it is a black comedy with a serious message - essentially about how f$cked the US is, particularly Los Angeles. Now I have been to LA and it is in my opinion an awful city, so I can definitely relate to this. Offensive in parts, but that is the idea. 6.5/10
Hotel Rwanda (Don Cheadle) (2004)
Tells the story of the madness that took control of Rwanda in 1994. Compelling and gripping stuff. Highly recommended. 9/10
Great Expectations (John Mills, Jean Simmons, Alec Guinness) (1946)
Not sure what comment to give. Nothing wrong, but not particularly inspiring and the 1994 adaption will appeal much more to people. 6.5/10
Collateral (Tom Cruise, Jamie Foxx) (2004)
I just wasn't taken by this. I don't think Cruise is a particularly believable bad guy - in fact I didn't find the whole film that believable. Surely a contract killer could do his research and find his way around rather than use a taxi driver. Overated. 5/10
The Killing Fields (Sam Waterston) (1984)
A well deserved academy nomination for best film. Tells the story of a journalist covering the Vietnam war as it spreads to Cambodia in the early 1970s and goes on to tell of a Cambodian man's survival during the brutal Khmer Rouge regime between 1975-1979 that followed the war's end. Well worth seeing 8.5/10.
