I was roughly half as active on LJ in 2012 as 2011, and 2011 was not a peak year. In fact the only “year” that was lower was 2006 when I was only a member for 6 months. And in those 6 months I made 3 fewer posts than last year.
I am still finding use in LJ, but I find that more and more the intended audience for the journal is me. I am fine with other people reading it, but the things I put down are what's useful for me to have put down somewhere when I am looking back.
This is something facebook, twitter, and +G are not good for. They are all in the moment, looking up a comment a month ago is difficult. A year ago is probably nearly impossible.
