I'm starting a new job on Wednesday, and I am both excited and nervous. Today was my last day at my old store. I don't know what feel about this. I'm both excited and nervous. Most of all, I'm happy about the substantial pay raise. Soon, I will own a Blu-Ray player, and the entire DS9 series on DVD.

I'm going to move into a cool neighborhood. And I'm going to get a cat. Probably a Scottish Fold. Why? Because they're so damn cute. Now, I know I've always said I'm a dog person, but most apartments don't discriminate against cats, and I want a cat that loves me more than anyone else. Also, I want to own a Jack Russell Terrier and everything I've ever read, heard or experienced first hand about Jacks is that unless they are introduced into a household in which there is already a small furry animal, they will try to kill every small furry thing they come into contact with. Yes, I know Jacks are small dogs, and that some people consider small dogs gay, but my childhood dog was half-Jack Russell Terrier, and the Jack traits were dominant. She was the smartest, most playful dog I've ever met and ruined me for any other dog. She was my best friend. I want to own a dog just like her, and a Jack Russell Terrier seems to be the only way to do that. Fuck shelter dogs, they won't be like Tolstoy. If I ever have a kid and it wants a dog, I'll get a shelter dog. My dog will be a Jack Russell Terrier. I've decided that I'll name it Nabokov, in keeping with the Russian writer theme. When I get my cat, I'll name it either Scotty, Pippin, or Beckett. All of those names are pretty geeky, and all are tied in with the Scottish theme.

DS9, season 1 episode 14, The Storyteller. A great episode. The beginning of a beautiful friendship. I wish I had a best friend like Chief O'Brien or Dr. Bashir.
