dizzydame's birthday and she said she wanted H/C fic and well, I started writing before and it kept going and kept going and wouldn't. stop. Sooo now I have this huge thing going on in my head and I blame her. All her fault.
Cam runs through the woods, his pack practically flapping against his back as he makes his way towards the gate. He jumps over a fallen tree, just barely missing a staff weapon blast.
"Cam! Hurry!" Sam shouts as she races past the DHD towards the Stargate. Daniel is and Teal'c are already there, Teal'c helping hold Daniel up as his own body is unable to move as they both stagger through the event horizon.
Vala stumbles a bit behind Cam as she hurries after him, her limbs sluggish and slow from the drugged wine she'd had at the last settlement.
"Come on," Cam urges, wrapping his arm around her and pulling her to her feet. His own body is feeling tired and slow but he knows it can't even be close to what she's feeling. She's had at least double the dosing he's had. Vala stumbles and falls again to her knees and then there is another round of staff weapon fire.
Cam falls to his knees, wrapping an arm and his body around Vala to protect her as he helps struggle to get her back on her feet. "Come on, come on Vala," he whispers quietly into her ear, his face tucked in close to hers. "We have to get going."
She shakes her head, her legs and feet feeling completely numb. "I... I can't," she whispers back before going limp in his arms.
"Vala...?" He asks, shaking her slightly as he begins to drag her towards the gate. "Vala come on! Wake up!" But there is no response from her. "Come on, not now. Not now we're so close..." He can see the gate not far from them and he knows they don't have long. The villagers are gaining on them, growing closer and the gate can't be open much longer.
Vala is dead weight in his arms, no longer really responding and he has no choice but to keep going, trying to get them there.
Behind him he can hear the voices growing louder and he's almost at the DHD when he hears the familiar clicking and then the gate closes, leaving him and Vala stranded on the other side.
"No, no," he groans. He rests Vala against the DHD as his hands shake to punch in the right gate coordinates, his vision growing bleary and fuzzy and the symbols going in and out of focus. He forces himself to work through it and finally gets a lock on Earth's gate. His fingers fumble in his tac-vest for the iris code but its too late. The villagers surround them, za'at guns and staff weapons at the ready. He feels pressure at the base of his back where a staff weapon is pressed, and he raises his arms slowly.
"You should not have run," the voice says and Cam wants to reply that he begs to disagree. He should have run faster but a quick blow to his head knocks him out and stops him from saying anything.

Cam comes to sometime later, though he isn't sure exactly how much later. His head hurts and his body aches and his teeth feel fuzzy and his jaw is scratchy and his stomach is growling. Actually, upon reflection, Cam isn't sure there isn't a part of his body that doesn't have something wrong with it. With a groan, he rolls over onto his side on the dark, cold floor of his cell and into a stagnant puddle of water.
"Oh... fuck," he groans, pushing himself onto his knees and out of the puddle. His muscles scream with each little bit of exertion and Cam hopes its only the after effects of the drugs that is causing the reaction and nothing more serious than that. He groans again and drops his head into his hands to try and stop the continual pounding. It takes a moment but the memories of their capture come flooding back to him. The others had made it through the gate which made Cam feel better but Vala.... Vala! He jerks his head up to look around, hoping to find her just sitting right there next to him but it wasn't that easy.
"Fuck," he groans again. She had passed out in his arms, he remembers that. It was his job to protect her, as her team leader and as... whatever it is he is to her. "Fuck," he says softer. Ever since that night at the bar he and Vala have been... Well he still isn't sure what they are but they're something, he knows that. She's spent almost every night either at his apartment with him or at least in his quarters on the base (albeit fairly sneakily). They didn't always have sex, sometimes Vala just came over and would curl up against him and watch TV or listen to Cam read from whatever book he had picked up recently. Actually, the more he thinks about it, the more Cam realizes that they've spent most of their time together just talking and hanging out and not having sex.
He smiles softly to himself as he thinks about how she would just easily curl herself up in his side, her hair falling down around her as she rested her head on his chest. She'd be curled up, legs tucked up underneath her and wearing whatever ridiculously cute pajama's she seemed to have on that night.
A slam of a door breaks Cam's thoughts and jerks him out of the past and into the present, into the dank, dark cell and into the present where Vala is not there with him but somewhere else, possibly still passed out or worse.
Cam struggles to his feet, his hand reaching out to grab onto nearby jail cell bars to help him up. He needs to focus and get his limbs to work better and he needs to find Vala.

Cam paces back and forth in his cell for the four hundredth time, still looking for a weakness in the jail. There has to be a weakness in the bars or the walls or somewhere, something that he can use to break himself out and find Vala. He crosses back over to the opposite side of the jail cell and presses his shoulder against the wall. There is a somewhat loose, squeaky bar over here and he keeps hoping if he applies enough pressure he'll be able to pop it. It will just put him in the jail cell next to his own but right now its all he has.
There is another slam of a door and Cam moves away from the loose bar, slumping against the wooden bench that's attached to the wall and pretending like he wasn't trying to just bust out of here.
He can see the two guards coming towards him with someone else being dragged in between them. He can't tell who it is just yet but he has a sinking suspicion on who it might be and he hopes to god he's wrong.
ONe guard stops and pulls a ring of keys from his pocket and opens the cell next to his own and Cam watches as Vala's body is dragged into the cell and dumped on the floor. Cam has to sit there and force himself not to move, not to go to her but to remain unflinching and passive until the guards have left.
As soon as he hears that slam of the door he's on his feet and working at the bar once more. "Vala?" He calls to her, pushing and twisting it. "Oh come on Vala, open those pretty eyes for me," he begs her quietly. There is a groan before the bar finally gives out and pops open, allowing Cam just enough room to squeeze through and push himself into Vala's cell.
He immediately drops to his knees and pulls her into his lap, running a hand over her hot brow. He can feel her heart racing and feel her breath which calms him down. She's alive at least.
"Oh, Vala," he murmurs again, running his hand over her brow and brushing her dark hair off her face. His heart breaks as he looks down at her and notes the mutlitude of bruises she has all over and the split lip and swollen eye. He can only imagine how bad the rest of her body must look if her face is that bad. He settles himself on the floor, resting his back against the wall so he can pull Vala close and into his lap. He doesn't know if she's just asleep or if she's passed out but the least he can do is give her a bit of comfort.
He pulls her closer to him, cuddling her to his chest. He leans closer and presses a very gentle kiss to her forehead before resting his head against hers. He isn't sure what else to do so he just starts talking, telling Vala a story he knows by heart.
"Once upon a time," he starts, his voice low and scratchy. He clears his throat before beginning again. "Once upon a time, in a galaxy far, far away there was a boy who lived on a a farm..."
