oh these look lovely! it's great to inherit a nice garden in a sharehouse, even if it's a bit dishevelled, my last place was like that. whereabouts are you now? i can see in the top photo some geraniums (pink and red), calendula is the yellow, the former never dies, the latter always self seeds. i'm not sure about the second from the bottom, but could it be a fuschia (google image it)? i don't think it's native but it looks lovely :) i think it's pretty hardy. the bottom lot look like they're the hardy plants that don't need much water, i could be wrong especially if the middle one is a type of lavender.

do you have grey water to water them all? if not i reckon you should stick one of those cheap rubber funnel diverters from the hardware store into any "elbow" pipes running from drains, with a hose running from the diverter. you could even put it into an old bath and put water plants in the bath, then redivert the water from the other end of the bath onto the garden. also, if the landlord is cool, downpipes from the roof can be diverted with a say, Nyl*x Rainwater Diverta (and you can put goldfish in the bath if it's pure rainwater). oh and a small bilge pump + hose running from a full bath onto the garden's great. (just getting carried away, i get geeky over grey water solutions!) xx

This is in Noble Park.

This garden was never meant to be neat per se. The owner was always enthusiastic about it though. We have a green house, grey water and tank water. Not sure how exactly it is done though. We're going to be planting organic veg later this year.
