I give you my new music fancy, a five-part musical form, which, for that there is singing, I have given the name Cantata Cordis. It is the companion mix to the
Soul Music mix I made for St Patrick's Day this year. This is heart music -- for the days when you neither want nor can wave the music in your soul like a battle flag, but your heart still refuses to give up. It pumps you full of rhythm, blood, and impulse, it's like music CPR, it makes you feel alive despite yourself, and it never, ever gives up on you.
As you might have surmised, I have also tried to flounce my sophisticated knowledge of complex musical forms, namely, sonata, and you'll see that all I suceeded in was to make myself seem thoroughly ludicrous. However, though I've applied zero of actual musical grammar, I'm proud of this baby, and the songs do mold together quite spectacularly at times, if I do say so myself, so listen in sequence, if you will. This mix is of course a blindingly hearts-in-my-eyes tribute to amazing artists that I've discovered, loved, listenened to live and cried to this year, to The Whitlams, Lisa, Hannigan, Ben Folds and Andrew Bird, fun., Cold War Kids, I Am Kloot, Mumford & Sons, Murray Gold of the shiny Doctor Who scores, and Underworld of the mindblowing Frankenstein soundtrack.

**I have not been able to actually make out what they're singing, so that's what I think I hear.
And let me just say, today has been the last day of class in my master's, so I'd really love to raise a glass with all of you - hope this, instead, is good enough. Sincerely, me.
