I haven't been online in ages (on AIM) and I haven't updated in ages. I always promise to update more often and contact people etc etc, but...
I AM JUST TERRIBLE!
I don't want all my friends in the US to think I'm a bad person, but, like Allsion, I'm totally failing when it comes to keeping up correspondence.
Anyway, tonight I should be reading Judith Butler for a presentation in a seminar called "American Philosophy". But obviously I'm not. That's because I just cannot understand anything she says. It's like reading a Chinese text. It's all about gender performance and feminst theory and post structuralism and deconstructivism (or whatever it's called). I don't even know what structuralism is, nor do I understand the sense of this text. And it's only 12 pages...
Yesterday Chris and I returned from Austria. It was amazing! It was even better than last year. I am just so happy everytime I'm in the middle of all those great mountains. I think I am a totally differnet person there. Just so happy and content! We talked to people and checked out everything there about next year, because...we'll get married there in July 2005!!! And we'll celebrate in a little cabin right in the moutains with just close friends and family. It'll be awesome. Allison, if you read this, it's one of these Apres-Ski Hütten! Very very nice. And we'll have great food and lots of beer and wine. I'm happy about that. And so are my parents. For them that little village is the nicest place on earth, too.
In other terms, I have 3 more weeks of school, I have that Judith Butler presentation and one Huge 25 pages paper which doesn't exist yet. And then I'll be going to my workcamp on the organic farm in Northern Germany. Then I'll be home for a week and then me and Chris will fly to Sardinia for two weeks with just a tent and a backpack. I'm really looking forward to all that! If only school would be over...
To all you philosophy freaks out there: has anybody read an essay by Judith Butler called "Performative Acts and Gender Constitution: An Essay in Phenomenology and Feminist Theory"??? Please tell me you have and please tell me you understand what it is about. That would be great, I'm just to stupid to understand it :-(
Ok, time to start work again...
