I had the job interview on Tuesday for the position as a systems coordinator, but seeing as to how it's been almost a week since then and I haven't heard anything about the job, I'll take that as a no. Actually, I think I kind of blew it with that interview. The first part of the interview went well, what with answering questions and all. After that I had to demonstrate my computer skills in a different room with some other lady watching over me. That in itself probably went alright too, it's just that after I got done in there, I was supposed to talk to the main woman (out of about 9) who was interviewing me. This other lady kind of ushered me out the door once I was done (the main woman was off elsewhere with the rest of her staff) and I didn't bother saying that I needed to talk to the other woman before leaving. (I don't know why really, I guess I just wanted to get out of there.) So because I didn't stay when I probably should have, I think that killed my chances of getting the job. Or the other person they were interviewing (it was just between me and another girl) was more qualified than I am. Or a combination of both.
It isn't so tragic though, and I'm far from being bummed out about it. I would have stayed with the job only long enough to find something somewhere else anyway. My interview at Sac State is this Wednesday, and I'm really hoping for this job. I have a few interviews under my belt now and know more what to expect for the general interview. Here's a job where I can really play out my interest and experience in education, even though it'd being doing just administrative work.
I finally got a start date (November 1) for the job as a test evaluator, so if nothing else, there's always that.
I've taken and passed two exams (one with 80%, the other with 100%) that qualify me now for employment with the state of California. I'm taking one more on Thursday. All of these tests are for paper-pushing jobs of varying difficulty. Nothing too exciting, but it is a way to get your foot in the door. Once you're in, it's relatively easy to move up (as long as you're qualified). It could take a month or more to actually get one of these jobs. But again, there's the test evaluator job, which is just contract work until mid-January anyway to hold me over until something better comes along.
Still really hoping for the Sac State job though.
On an unrelated note, I feel sick. Flu? Food poisoning? Something else? Still trying to figure it out.
