“Bodyguards? He hired freaking bodyguards to stand in front of our doors?!” I shouted, pacing back and forth.
Andrew hid his face in his hands. “I’m not good at secrets...” he whimpered.
“Obviously not!” I yelled. I sighed and sat down on my bed, as Andy turned his back towards me. Hopeless. It was hopeless. It seemed like I’d never see Michael again. I couldn’t even LOOK at Andy. He had ruined everything. Everything. I could barely stand the sight of him.
“Y-you can always call him and talk to him,” Andy suggested quietly.
Wow. I’m an idiot. How come I didn’t think of that before?
“At least...you can do that until I think of another plan,” Andrew said, almost in a whisper.
My gaze softened. He didn’t mean to mess it all up, that was just his nature. I got up, walked over to Andrew, and hugged him. “I’m sorry,” I told him. “You didn’t mean to mess things up, it’s just your Andy-nature.”
Andrew nodded. “Yeah. It’s my nature. I’m really, really sorry Alex.”
I smiled. “Oh, it’s okay. Imma call Mike.”
Andrew gave me a thumbs-up. “Good idea! Stick with that, till I can think of something.”
I laid down on my bed, pick up my phone, and called Michael. It barely had time to ring before Michael answered.
“Alex! Alex! Hey! Hi! I have really bad news!! There’s-”
“Bodyguards,” I finished. “I know. Andy’s fault, but s’okay,” I glanced over at Andy and smiled. Andrew was looking around, deep in thought. “Andy’s thinking of a new plan.”
“Operation Malex, Plan B!” Andrew shouted, correcting me.
“Operation Malex, Plan B,” I repeated to Michael. “This guy is awesome.”
“How can anybody even think about denying Andy’s awesomeness?” Michael asked in response. We laughed. Michael hesitated. “A-Alex?”
“Hm?”
“This is really sudden,” Michael said. “But...I need to tell you something really important.”
I gulped. This was it. He was ending it before it even began. “Go ‘head,” I urged.
“Alex, I...”
And then, he said it.
The most powerful three words in the world.
Michael took a deep breath. “I love you.”
All of my breath slowly escaped from my lips, and I couldn’t hear anything but my pulse. He...he loved me?
“Y-you love me?” I managed to say.
“Uh, well, yeah.” Michael replied.
I couldn’t stop the smile that was forming on my face. “I...I love you too, Mike.”
That made HIM go silent.
Out of the corner of my eye, I saw Andrew smile over at me.
“Uh...” Michael said. “Wow, um...wow.”
I grinned. “I think I need some sleep.”I told him.
“Well I for one DEFINITELY need some sleep!” Michael replied. “G-goodnight Alex.”
I smiled. “Goodnight Michael...” I paused. “I promise you, love, we’re gonna work this out.”
Michael laughed, and said, “That was deep,” before we hung up.
I sighed happily and looked up at the ceiling. “Andy?” I asked.
“Hm?” Andrew replied.
“How’s that plan coming along?”
Andrew’s eyes flickered up to the large air vent that was up high on the wall, above the side table. “Oh, it’s going fast,” he said with a mischievous grin.
