This is just some things I've had some people say to me while I've been asking about the Russia cosplay.
"For his jacket, I used a heavy cotton twill. But that was because I intended to wear it in chilly weather.
As for the pattern, I based mine off a (male) double-breasted jacket because the greatcoat I made was based on the manga (and opens on the side). I can't help you much there though, because I pretty much made my own pattern."
" An easy way to do the shoulder part is to pin and sew it down with the sleeve on one side, then tuck the end and sew the other side down afterwards."
"For the cuffs I actually cheated. I cut out two equal pieces of fabric and sewed them onto the sleeve, hiding the seam and the raw edge of the other side with the bias tape."
"The brown lining is the same bias tape as the stuff on the cuffs (except the arrows where I had a hell of a hard time using a different type of bias tape)."
"What I did was I used a brown thread the same colour as the bias tape and made sure I sewed right at the edge. That way the threads blend into the fabric, and not only that, the seam itself somewhat blends into the edge so they appear invisible."
