Jan 24, 2014 18:31

Just heard about a new DC Comics direct to video movie yesterday sold exclusively at Target. Picked it up and thought I'd share my thoughts. Long story short: for a cheapo, quicky DTV it is NOT Brainiac Attacks. For my full review, read below the fold ( Read more... )

Teen Titans Go! "Breakfast Cheese" - This episode didn't do much for me, but I find it sad that it felt like a twist ending in that it was happy and not a kill 'em all ending ( ... )

Arrow: Thanks for the info on Sin.

Hulk and the Agents of SMASH: Yeah, the Herald's power corrupting Jen didn't work at all.

Revolution: Agreed on all points.

Sleepy Hollow: Who is Greenwood?

Grimm: NBC is the worst. Between the misleading promos and bouncing around the show's time slot it's like they are TRYING to kill it off.

Community: Troy was just nitpicking the logic of it. I actually DO know the real story why it's called that but Troy has always been a very literal person. He takes after Abed that way.

Arrow: I love Sin on this show, though, I don't care if she's an "In Name Only" character.

Sleepy Hollow: Lyndie Greenwood/Jenny.

Grimm: Honestly, I think Grimm ads are NBC's weakspot because I don't mind the trailers for Revolution or even Dracula at all. UPN was the worst and Fox and WB/CW have done their share of messed ups. I agree about the erratic timeslot and the crops of new episodes/periods of repeats, though.

Community: Well that's a relief. Especially since there's really no point in asking a man who didn't get involved in the franchise until 25 years after it began.

Sleepy Hollow: Oh, good, they use her almost every episode anyways.

Grimm: You're right about NBC's Dracula and Revolution ads not being too bad (especially not Revolution's). I don't get why NBC seems to be purposely damaging Grimm.

Community: Yes, there was. Because it was funny.

Grimm: NBC wants to stir up higher ratings...they shouldn't meddle so much.

Community: I mean there's no reason for you to want LeVar to answer.

Grimm: They really shouldn't. What they are doing will actually result in lower ratings.

Community: I'm not Troy though.

You're right. I want them to stop trial and erroring Grimm because it's a solid genre show with modern TV sensibilities. Hopefully they'll be happy partnering it with Hannibal.

There have been a TON of promising shows that have been killed due to bad scheduling decisions and bad promos (Dark Shadows, The Tick, Firefly, Brisco Country Jr.) so it is a testament to Grimm's quality and fanbase that it is still as successful as it is. There have been MANY better shows that didn't survive less mistreatment.

Yeah, I'm relieved Grimm is surviving the Friday Night Death slot. I'm wondering how some of those shows, especially Firefly, would do today. It's been a LONG time since Firefly, and now we've got Twitter and web content NBC is giving to Grimm fans. Then again, you did say "bad promos"...

Firefly would last two or three seasons at least today. I am certain it would not be a "hit", but it could have been the kind of show like Fringe or Chuck to slog through five seasons, and actually get to make a proper series finale. Heck, even Dollhouse managed that in two. It wouldn't have been canceled midway through season one, that's for sure.

Yeah, that's true. Genre shows don't tend to be as mainstream as something like CSI anyway, and even Lost tricked a lot of the audience into watching a genre show. Firefly would be on Fringe's level.

I believe that even if it had aired on Fridays for part of its run. Fox would never have canceled it midseason.
