I haven't reviewed last Sunday's Family Guy where Chris dates a young woman with Down Syndrome yet (although I will say here and now that I thought it was fabulous). But Sarah Palin predictably had a conniption fit over it and Andrea Friedman (who played Corky's girlfiend on Life Goes On as well as Chris' girlfriend here) basically gave Palin the smackdown.
http://www.dailykos.com/story/2010/2/18/838448/-Actor-with-Down-Syndrome-Puts-Palin-in-Her-Place-*UPDATE* I honestly think Palin is playing with fire by constantly insinuating people with Down Syndrome are people who can't take of or defend themselves. According to some of the comments accompanying the article on Kos a few people who know kids with Down Syndrome are saying that they are getting offended by Palin always acting like they are completely helpless. I think making fun of the mentally disabled is a bad idea but the Family Guy episode that Palin railed against actually did so in a gentle and humorous manner unlike the abomniation that was Petarded. I think Republicans that assume that people in the disabled community (as well as the mentally ill community) will fall for their scare tactics are in for an unpleasant surprise.
