Reviews for the latest episodes of Batman: The Brave and the Bold, Battlestar Galactica, Dollhouse and TMNT: Back to the Sewer.

Batman: The Brave and te Bold "Return of the Fearsome Fangs!"

Why does every modern Batman cartoon feel the need to do a version of The Terrible Trio? To outdo BTAS' version? Because that ain't all that hard even if an episode is as sucky and humorless as this one. WAAAAAYYYY too serious for this show and I wasn't enjoying myself at all. I didn't even like the opener with Jonah Hex because there is no explanation what Batman is doing in the Old West nor how he got there. And Bronze Tiger (Voiced nicely by Static Shock's Gary "Ebon" Sturgis) is right: His and Batman's old monk trainer guy was a complete butthole. A waste of an episode. *1/2.

Battlestar Galactica "Deadlock"

They shouldn't have killed Six and Tigh's baby. Maybe they felt they couldn't have satisfactorily paid it off in five more episodes but if that was the case they shouldn't have bothered creating the subplot in the first place.

And Ellen Tigh just went back to being completely unlikable in the space of an hour. That was fast.

I'm kind of annoyed we got a filler ep this close to the series finale. It was decent but not great. ***.

Dollhouse "The Target"

I just realized what Dollhouse reminded me of. It's this season's new Bionic Woman. A series with SOME potential that is doing everything in it's power to alienate an audience that might be more willing to sample a show like this in this television climate than they would have in the past. I SERIOUSLY wish Firefly had been created after Lost. I have a feeling Fox would have seen the potential in it and it would still be on the air.

Joss is taking whatever good will he created from his earlier series (Buffy, Angel, Firfly/ Serenity and Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog) and making a series that doesn't feel at ALL like a Joss Whedon series. Maybe he doesn't want himself to be pigeonholed but fans of him DO expect a certain level of quality writing and dialogue from him even when there isn't much funny going on.

The concept of this episode and Alpha is kind of neat but I cannot seriously see this series appealing to ANYONE but hardcore, patient Joss fans who know what he is capable of. General audiences will never be that receptive to him if this is what he puts out on a weekly basis. **1/2.

TMNT: Back to the Sewer "Super Power Struggle"

Call me officially worried. If this IS the last season of the 2003 4Kids Turtle continuity (and all signs point that it is) there is NO way they will be able to tie up all of the loose ends in just one more episode (since this was a filler). Yes, it was good to see the Justice Force again but at least in the Ninja Tribunal series when they reappeared they tied it to the overall continuity of that story arc. A nice episode but now I'm REALLY worried about next week's series (?) finale. ***.
