It's too bad you didn't like Gotham Knight. I thought it worked just fine for me. It sort of sets up Batman for Dark Knight. What sort of violence he will endure thanks to what happened in Begins and putting his life on the line.
For the sake of conversation, what sort of fun were you hoping for? I mean this is pretty much Year One so Batman would be a bit more dark and broody than what we're used to.
I dunno, BTAS was fun. I was expecting more one-liners and fun bad guy fights. All of the fights (with the possible exception of the Deadshot one and that was ruined by the coda) were so serious and bleak and depressing. Is it too much to ask for watching a superhero kicking butt without having to feel guilty about it?
Oh yeah, I hear you on that. There is sort of an implied optimism at the end of the movie in the style of Conrad's Heart of Darkness. Gotham is traditionally this morally bleak corrupt city blanketed in perpetual darkness. Then we get this search light piercing the sky, the Bat Signal, to the people it becomes a sign of hope, really that things are getting better and there is someone looking out for them.
But fun definitely describes the upcoming Wonder Woman movie. Zombie army. Nathan Fillion. That's all I needed to hear to conclude that. ;)
I think it'll be in the same vein as "Paradise Lost" Part Two with Hades' army or "Shadow of the Hawk" with the Ancient Egypt Era Thanagarian Zombie Robots except with more stabbing and decapitating.
