Battlestar Galactica "The Road Less Travelled"
Well, this was a different episode for this season in that I didn't outright dislike it but it still wasn't as good as an episode from season two or three. I like the idea of a Cylon truce to help fight the civil war but Kara has been acting so obnoxious it's hard to believe she didn't see the mutiny coming. Even Buffy in Season Seven wasn't acting as reckless and annoying as Starbuck.
I know Starbuck was never the sharpest tack in the box but even she has to be smart enough to realize that when you are in command of a whole bunch of people you have to actually give the appearance of sanity. While Kara has never really cared what people thought of her behavior it has usually only affected her personal life and not her duties aboard Galactica. She is so used to being damaged and hurting other people that she can't even THINK of behaving like an adult when other people's lives are on the line.
The stuff between Tyrell and Baltar was pretty good but I am furious with Tory. Part of me is glad she hasn't admitted what she did to Cally to the Chief because it means that it's likely that she knows Galen would flip out and that would prove to the audience that not all of the final five have zero disregard for human life. I'm also glad that this episode affirmed that yes, Tyrell DID love and care about Cally. Last week's scene between him and Adama really ticked me off.
Better than the last two weeks but I'm still a little bit concerned that the show has jumped the shark. ***1/2.
Lost "Something Nice Back Home"
This episode seemed to be almost entirely set-up. I was furious with Jack in the flash-forwards for the way he treated Kate especially because they could have been happy if he didn't pull all of his old crap. I also didn't like the way he treated Hurley. I don't think Hurley's crazy. I think he knows something that Jack and the rest of the Oceanic Six will be ignoring at their peril.
Interesting stuff with Claire and Christian. Seeing him holding Aaron freaked me out. I want to know what happened to her. Will that have anything to do with why she isn't one of the Oceanic Six?
I still trust Faraday (and of course Lapidus) but I'm still on the fence about Charlotte. I love Jin threatening her by threatening Faraday. I actually trust Miles more than I did last week. He's a jerk but it's possible he isn't in on the freighter's evil plans. We'll see.
I liked the episode. ****.
