So I'm 45 years old.

This has been bugging me my entire life. Tell me if I'm crazy.

That Life Cereal "Hey, Mikey!" commercial makes NO freaking sense. As a kid I never understood it, and each subsequent viewing of it as an adult confirms that this thing makes no sense. What's alarming is nobody else has pointed out this hole so I had always assumed I was missing something. But no, this beloved commercial makes no sense.

So the kids are pushing the bowl of cereal back and forth saying they aren't going to try it. One of the kids has the bright idea to give it to Mikey. He'll eat anything. But if Mikey is the kind of kid who'll eat anything, why are the kids surprised he likes it?

All my life, I had been half-convincing myself that I misheard the kids and they didn't say "He eats anything," but "He hates everything". If that's true why are they giving the cereal they are unsure of to him, and why is he eating it to begin with if he hates everything? In the end I'm certain the line is "He'll eat anything." But even if it isn't, the commercial makes no sense.

This is an actual beloved commercial. It's not the Duracell Battery family or people grossly bleeding and leaking neon Gatorade out of their most sensitive orifices. It's considered a VERY successful marketing campaign that Life has NEVER been able to duplicate. And why am I the only person who is driven nuts by it?
