Having literally shed tears, lost sleep, nurtured splitting headaches, and fought anger and despair over this election, I've made my decision:
I'm abstaining from the presidential vote.
Every candidate (including the two off-party candidates on the ballot here in PA) has a position on some issue or another that's gravely contrary to the dignity of human life. Abortion, the death penalty, poverty and the economy, immigration, war, security, health care, you name it. I can't vote for anyone in good conscience, so I'm voting for no one.
Unfortunately, since there's no "abstain" option on the ballot, this is statistically equivalent to not showing up. But at least I'll know the difference.
And now, having vented on LJ (nothing like an emo 27-year-old to make you feel good about life, eh?), I think I'll have a drink and watch Lock, Stock, and Two Smoking Barrels.
