The second chapter of my FE9 novelization is up on FF.

Special thanks go to my friend  darkeclipse45  for beta reading. Now note time, I guess, though I don't think there is all that much I can say.

This chapter was first going to be somewhat of a filler chapter, but I decided against it, as it would've pretty short. That's why this chapter is on the lengthy side (for my writing, at least it is).

In this chapter, the lovely Greil Mercenaries are right where I left off from the previous chapter in that castle in Gallia. "Gebal Castle," I believe it's called? Too lazy to check, but I think that's it. Anyways.

Tried to expand on the grave of the great and powerful Greil with details. Hope it made it look nice, if only a tiny bit.

Did a little minor departure from canon (aside from the obvious with the oc); in the beginning of the chapter before the base conversation, Boyd mentions how Shinon and Gatrie leave the group without turning their backs. I wanted to add a little bit of... "something" by writing Gatrie as hesitant. Hope that doesn't seem out of character at all. Ehh. Not gonna see those two for a good while. /sadface

I made my own base conversation for Malin, in a way. The main thing is the little conversation between him and Oscar. I'm really afraid of having him in the limelight for far too long, but I guess it can be hard to avoid when you really like an oc you write. I really enjoy writing his character. ^^;  I also mentioned Malin thinking about his father for one tiny line. Very insignificant, but I want to give a little more about his family and history, so I'll try to let that all build up in later chapters.

In the sparring match as well as the fighting Daein soldiers back, I wrote Mia's sword-fighting techniques as a kind of dance. I got this from remembering Eliwood and Lyn's support conversation in FE7 when Eliwood says Lyn's swordplay is beautiful to watch. Sacaen swordplay, yay. Mia's no girl from the plains (duh), but I imagine female myrmidons are more graceful to watch kill? I don't know. Reallllllly minor stuff.

This chapter in a nutshell: talk, fight, talk, fight, talk. That's Fire Emblem for ya.

...That's all that pops up in my mind from writing this chapter. Feeling pretty good about it overall. Already got a little bit of a start on the third chapter, so I'm at least making sure there won't be another long gap between updates. :D
