Woah, hold on there.
Who hit fast forward on October? Come on, fess up, you owe me some sleep.
The last month's dust storm of random events has ripped a swath through my routine and I find myself totally confused and uncertain how I ended up with this tiny little moment within which I can reflect on it's happenings.
I spent eight days in Greece. I took long ferries and swam in the Mediterranean and Aegean Seas. I got covered in sand. I ran across hilltops and trespassed through villas along archaic stone walls wrapping like tendrils snaking toward the tops of hills. I stretched upon the Delion Sanctuary of Apollo and drove a dune buggy down swerving turns and along beaches. I compared salty, wind blown hair with good laughing travel company. I (apparently) caused and cured hangovers. I ate on the beach and helped an injured dog. I visited ancient sites like the Acropolis and it's very under-renovation Parthenon, and The Temple of Zeus. I sipped expensive coffee and marveled at the sheer number of beautiful women. I ate interesting food and sampled house wine. I emerged unscathed. My bank account did not. It was a fantastic trip.
My lovely friend Kristy was kind enough to share some of her Paros and Athens photos with my camera-less self.
I returned to Doha to find my camera waiting for me and the temperature down to a more manageable mid-thirty-degrees-ish centigrade. About damn time. I explored the city a bit more, finding tasty ethnic restaurants with new people. I started learning to sail a yacht on a thirty foot racing boat of which there are only two in the world. I was invited to a star wars themed wedding party. I went, in a hastily constructed twenty-four-hour Jedi costume, with two beautiful girls. It was fully catered with an open bar, Jedi themed marriage vows and more than fifty people in costume. It was fun, I am a huge nerd, and I live in the strangest place in the world. Here are some early pictures of it.
