all of us in our women's studies thesis class got asked this question and had to answer to the group. most people had amazing things to say like "grad school in NYU after I defer for year while I travel in europe!"

all I could say was that I wanted to work, ride a bike, and then go on a trip to mexico and central america this winter so I can A. learn spanish and B. avoid another chicago winter/hell.

i felt pretty deflated after saying that out loud in comparison to everyone elses plans. but at the end of the day, I chose my major because I loved it. not because I planned on making money with it. if i had to go back, i'd do it again except this time I would also major/minor in languages. I really just want to learn languages so I can travel and talk to people. is there anything wrong with that?

anyways,

andrea craft (my roomate) and I (and possibly giusseppe for part of the trip) are planning on traveling through mexico, central america (panama for sure), puerto rico and cuba for a few months starting december first. maybe cyndi and you could meet up with us, or we can plan it together.
