first off. i sent postcards to...
geoff, kate, paul, hilly, jackie, and joan
kate i may have messed up on your postage. let me know if you never get it, i'll tell you what it said. i think you would really like it.
i'm in volterra. which is a smal hill town about an hour drive from the mediterranean. southwest of pisa. yesterday we went to the cinque terre (5 towns). this string of 5 villages built on the hillside next the sea. typically you hike and take train from town to town. we decided to drive to the third town because we already had to drive to and a half hours to get there. oh. and by we, i mean me. my mom gets to wrapped up in the scenery to be a good driver, and i am the only other one with an international license. it wasn't terrible. but we're talking small windy mountain roads where sometiems you can barely squeeze two cars next to each other. thank god for small italian cars. all in all it was a good day though. i drank lots of espressos to keep me awake on the drive home. and we found this great restaurant just before we got on the autostrada on the way home.
that was yesterday. let me back up a bit.
so. we finally get to roma. after be rerouted through torino from paris. my sister, john, and didn't get our bags till our last day. day three, in rome. we nearly had a fashion show we were so happy. rome was great. very busy. and on a getting lost on purpose walk with ashley we found the best view of the city (fuck you rick steves).
i'm running out of journaling steam, you'll get more details, if you want them, when i post some pictures. but basically. we went to florence next. the venice. and then we rented a car and drove here to volterra. oh. we took the train between the other cities. so the trip has been progressively more and more mellow. which is definitly the way to go.
does anyone want to travel the world with me? seriously. let's go. i could spend 2 months in italy and still need more time.
ciao
