ok, so here's the deal:
I just bought two tickets to go see Tool on friday, september 22nd because I didn't want to wait any longer for fear of it selling out and I'm kicking myself in the balls (literally, it's tough, but possible) for not picking them up earlier, like say for instance the first week they went on sale, because the only seats left were side stage. fortunately, they're not deep side stage, they're right next to where side stage starts. they're the left side of the stage, I think that's Justin's side, but don't quote me. ANYWAYS, here's the deal, the tickets were $54 each after service fees and other TicketSlave bullshit, and since no one had for sure committed to going with me, the other ticket goes to the first person to get me the money. now, I've prepared for the fact that no one may feel like paying me for the ticket and being that I don't feel like going alone, I have a mental list in my mental mind of people who I will give the ticket to for free in the situation that no pays me, and being a part of that list is based on multiple factors, such as how much I think the person is likely to appreciate the caliber of music and quality of show, and also on how likely I think that person is to actually go with me and not flake out on me at the last minute*. now anyone is eligible to be on that list, but if you're wondering if you're on it already, you're probably not. let me know and I'll add you to it, but keep in mind you'll be behind at least a handful of people already, so if you really want to go, just PAY ME (ASAP preferably). the people already on the list won't be informed now because of the fact that that may prevent them from paying me knowing that they may get the ticket for free, but if I have no takers, the people on the list will be informed about a week prior to the show.
*so the star, right. last time Tool was touring, they came through East Lansing during the early part of my first semester of my frehsmen year, so I decided to buy both Randy Peabody and Ryan Mattis (he wasn't known simply as Mattis at this point in time) a ticket for their respective birthdays, being that they were my two best friends at the time (Mattis still is and Randy is still up there, even after the shit they pulled you're about to read about) and it seemed like a nice thing to do. so anyways, they both had well over a month's notice as to when the concert was and both had told me they had cleared their schedules and were going to make it, so I plan on a great time coming up. so the month passes and then the day before the concert I talk to Randy and he tells me for whatever reason he's not going to make it, work or class of some shit, so I say "whatever dude, just don't expect any gifts of a non-sexual nature from me in the future" and then call Mattis up and tell him to bring Dave Moroni with him, and he says that will work. so, the day of the concert, I'm waiting for them to show up around 3, and still waiting around 5, and at 6 I still haven't heard from them and then the concert starts in an hour, so I panic and try to scramble to find people from my floor to go with me who don't already have tickets. so I end up taking one kid who was a pretty good friend of mine who appreciated it about as much as Randy would have and probably more than Mattis would have, but then the only other kid I found to go left after they played 3 songs. they played Sober and then he's like "well, that's the only song I wanted to hear, I'm peacing out" and just left. what a waste of a ticket. regardless, it was still the best concert I've ever been to, and I'd been to a handful before that and quite a few since, so that's saying a lot. I think later I learned that Mattis' or Dave's (whoever was driving's) car broke down or they couldn't borrow their parent's car or some shit, whatever they should have let me know as soon as they found out. granted, this was before we all had cell phones, but use a pay phone or a house phone or AIM for fuck's sake. anyways, that's why the people I've put on the list so far have been people that I at least believe I can count on.
so in summation, LET ME KNOW IF YOU WANT TO GO, and preferably pay me, but if you absolutely don't have the money, I'll add you to the list of candidates to get the ticket for free.
