Reasons why Sonic and the Secret Rings ("Rings") looks like it will kick Sonic the Hedgehog's ("Sonic 06") ass:
- Sonic 06 sucks anyway.
- The gameplay of Rings looks like it will be excellent with the Wii controller.
- The story for Rings actually seems kind of, you know, DECENT. Not with all this crap with another Sonic lookalike and a Shadow lookalike and fire demons and time travel (well, that was kind of cool) and then the whole thing never actually happening. Blaze is cool though.
- Shadow and Blaze (henceforth known as "the awesomes") will be in Rings' multiplayer mode along with Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, Amy and Cream (so will Silver unfortunately, and there's no sign of Rouge, but them's the breaks).
- Obviously Rings is on a fairly stable Nintendo console as opposed to one I've heard a lot about involving "rings of death" (no, different rings to the Secret Rings). Also, the loading times on the Wii tend to be reasonable.
- Minigames had been announced for Sonic 06 that never ended up being included in the final product. It now seems like they were instead added to Rings for multiplayer and four players are better than two. (Sometimes. This is one of those times.)
- Rings looked crap originally and now looks cool, unlike Sonic 06 which looked cool at first and ended up crap.
