uninformed voters seem to be the theme this election, at least in the media. i try not to get too into politics anymore. i love political theory and discussion, but oftentimes people just like to have an uninformed opinion about things. it's important to seek knowledge and understanding in anything that we do. we should have clear reasons for doing it. now, those reasons are not for anyone else to necessarily tell you, but for you (you as in me included) to figure out. there is no such thing as a "wrong opinion," but there is such thing as an uninformed opinion, and i think that if we don't really know any sort of reasoning for our opinions, they might as well not be considered opinions, due to lack of credibility. this is all good for me to think about in shaping my decisions. i choose to accept Christ as my personal Lord and Savior. it is more than an opinion, but a knowledge and active relationship. i have come to this point (which i first discovered three and a half years ago when i first acknowledged the love that God showed when He gave His innocent Son for our sanctification and life) through faith. faith is a gift of God and He totally has blessed me with a comfort in the fact that Jesus died for me. i have reasons to believe this too. i know in my heart that i so frequently have thought things to cause damage or harm to others. i don't need to justify that by any form of moral relativism. i know in my heart that i, by that fact alone, am not good enough to get into heaven, a place where the perfect God that created the entire universe, dwells. i don't deserve to be close to Him or see His face. but i also believe that God sent His Son to die for all that would accept the gift, so that by Jesus' perfect blood, we could all be forgiven of our transgressions. hundreds or prophecies from the old testament allude to the coming of Jesus two thousand years ago and many jews were expecting the Messiah. they expected the Messiah to liberate them from roman occupation, but many did not plan on the Messiah to liberate them from the bondage of sin. as prophesied in great detail, Christ lived a perfect life here on earth, was forsaken of God, afflicted among men, and died for our sins. He rose three days later to seal it all. writings of the old testament give plenty of information as to the things that happened to Jesus and exactly why they happened, yet it was written from a span of more than a thousand years, all before Christ walked the earth. this is to be brief for your sake and mine. essentially, search out Truth and accept it. search out your views and why you have those. don't adopt something just because someone told you it was a good idea. obviously the less critical parts of our lives aren't the same; if someone told you that a double-double from in-n-out was good, but you needed to find out for yourself so before you ate it, you took a public survey and chemically tested the burger to see if it was likely to taste good. but we should analyze the things that affect us daily and shape our character. i wouldn't want to chiseled my character with a broken hammer or whittle my personality with a dull blade. if anyone needs any prayer or anything, please let me know.
