I would agree that mostly pride parade act as solidarity moments where 300,000 gays and straight show up and count themselves as present, even if just for a day. It may not mean as much to me anymore, but it does for a lot of folks who may never have seen that many people (or any person) stand and be "out."

And just because other groups don't march, doesn't mean that this group shouldn't march. Maybe other groups want to march, but can't. Maybe gays have been given the privilege to march while others are not allowed. It was hard for a time for gays to have parades - cities wouldn't give them permits, business wouldn't let them assemble in front of their stores, and in some places there might be more protesters than marchers. I remember hearing a story about some little town having a pride parade with 5-10 very brave men and women walking down the street reminding folks that they were gay and that they were ok with it.

course, there are arguments against telling the entire world you are gay, or having huge parades for it, or anything.

But yeah, just cause others don't have parades doesn't mean that this group shouldn't. That's too simplistic of a response. (and as a ex-resident of a city (NYC) that has gay parade, irish-american parade, puerto-rican, dominican, caribbean, thanksgiving, xmas, 4th of july and various others celebrations of cultural diversity, i'm totally in favor of gay folk (in all their colors and tastes) having one day to walk down the street.

Even if i grumble that i can't walk down the street and youngins are way too loud.

And also, you are way too pretty to hate.
