Tonight's dinner / Newcomers to my flist

Mar 08, 2006 02:05

Tonight's dinner was turkish in style. I feasted on a huge amount of tabouleh and tzatziki-filled pittas. (I was going to have it last night, but I was feeling lazy and had a curry instead.)

Tabouleh: This is a green salad, usually served as an accompaniement to a larger dish.

Put some bulgur wheat in a bowl and pour on boiling water. Leave to stand for 20 minutes and drain in a seive. (Squeeze out any excess water, either with your hands or a spoon). Whilst it's standing, finely chop a load of parsely, mint, spring onions and cucumber. Add the bulgur wheat, some olive oil and lemon juice and season with black pepper. Mix.

Tzatziki: a dip, great for carrots and cucumbers, but I mixed it with the tabouleh and stuffed it in pitta breads
Take some natural yoghurt, though sour cream and creme fraishe would also work, and add in chopped mint and cucmber. Optionally season with a little paprika or cayenne pepper. Mix.

I've added quite a lot of people to my flist in recent weeks. I keep my IM details in a locked post at [http://www.livejournal.com/users/matthewp/86958.html] so that google won't link my name with my journal. I'm sure it'll happen sooner or later, but I've managed so far. For this reason, please don't refer to my surname in public posts. (I'll screen you otherwise ;-) Do many else of you use Y!M/ICQ/MSN/AOL ?
