1. Who's Gonna Be the One - Kenny White

One Tuesday night in February I was driving around, looking for a particular blu-ray disc that had been released that day. When I'm in the truck, I'm probably listening to WEVL 89.9 Volunteer Radio. WEVL is the coolest thing out there. The station is completely listener supported and features a wide variety of programming provided by volunteers; programs such as: Bashful Bob's Country Review, Hawaiian Slack-Key Guitar Hour, The First Church of Rock, Lost in the Shuffle (alternative), New Orleans Big Beat, etc. To listen to this station for one day would expose someone to at least a dozen genres.
That night a song came on and it hooked me hard. The melody was easy going with heavy folk influences, and the subject matter got down-right biographical. It was the song I wanted people to sing about me, and I only caught half of it.
The singer is addressing the subject directly, telling them their own life story with one question asked throughout the tale. The stanza making up the refrain contains the same first, second, and fourth lines, but changes the third on each repeat. The first one goes:

You're gonna be the one to save the day
yeah, I believe that's what you're here to do
but when the lamps go on the the day's work is done
who's gonna be the one to save you

This song is that moment in the first Superman movie where Lois asks, "You've got me, but who's got you?" That scene is movie magic, an instant classic which is still referenced 30+ years later. The only problem is that this song is only that exact moment. The question isn't answered; there's a possibility that Superman can't really fly. You just have to hope, for the sake of the subject, that this song has an answer.
A lifetime of comics, cartoons, and action movies, with a little PTSD on the side, has left me with a bit of a hero complex. I know that it'll push me to be a better man, I also know that it'll get me into trouble. I have to hope the someone (friend, lover, self) is gonna be the one.
