"indecisive"

a mass of unidentifiable slop
not quite liquid as it keeps its shape
not quite solid in this cold, wet state
surface that bubbles like it's bound to pop
still, though like caught in motion forced to stop
forced to freeze and hold its place
like it was midstride in a short-distance race
pent up energy with nowhere to go
scurrying inside at breakneck pace
though keeping this mass from starting to flow
keeping it from running, no matter how slow

so there it sits on the elliptical table
not quite centered but placed purposefully
like a design major trying to be poignant, he
tries to make it seem like his brain is able
to think outside a world inert and stable
so, wet, damp, and textured like slime
and midstride in motion but trapped still in time
this goop isn't melting or taking true shape
because either way would be too sublime
the owner could put away his panacea: duct tape
and clean up the mess or stop the debate

decisions aren't made to stop on a dime
they're imperfect, arbitrary and can often be wrong
consequences come after decisions are gone
and sometimes decisions aren't made quite on time
under pressure the verbal turns to nonsense mime
the emotional slop that sits not quite still
as its insides are churning almost at will
must become solid for anything to be
because the mind cannot assign any action until
the emotions allow the mind to be free
and make all its decisions confidently
