It's a dangerous thing to do exactly what you want

I needed something new to listen to. Something to chill out with. Something bittersweet, but enduringly positive in tone. So I downloaded the new Flaming Lips album, At War with the Mystics (don't worry, I'll buy it when it comes out). It took less than ten minutes.

I remember the first MP3 I downloaded (Clones by The Smashing Pumpkins, for those keeping score at home) took me two hours to download, back in the days when I was using mogest's BBS over a 33.6K modem, and Windows 95 was finally here.

I took the album for a drive up Dyer's Road to the Sign of the Kiwi, where I sat watching the city twinkle. It was an oddly emotional experience. Then I drove down Summit Road, around through Cass Bay (the road there has just been resealed, and is an absolute joy to drive on), and back through the tunnel.

I have played a couple of hundred games of Freecell this weekend. I feel like my life at the moment is predominantly spent waiting expectantly for something else to happen.
