So Katrina pretty much gave where I live a royal fuck-over. I have no idea what condition my house is in -- or if I even have a house anymore -- because phone service there is completely dead, cells and all. My parents are heading home from Arkansas today, so hopefully they'll find a way to get in touch with me and let me know. But the Coast is a mess. The shopping center where I used to go to midnight screenings of Rocky Horror Picture Show, gone. The Hard Rock resort that was JUST finished and was set to open next week, gone. It's crazy.
Anyway, I started classes yesterday. Imaginative Writing was pretty cool. Race & Ethnicity... wasn't. In Intro to Film we watched this crazyass movie called Koyaanisqatsi, which was essentially 2 hours of long, slow-motion and fast-motion motages of things like traffic and waves and canyons and people smoking. It was... interesting. But we have some really awesome movies lined up for the course, including Run Lola Run, Adaptation, and Rear Window. Fun stuff.
