things that dont:
being disabled.
things that do:
having friends volunteer to help disabled you and your disabled mother move your shit into a truck.
things that don't:
said friends (4 out of 5) not showing up, and only one having the decency to call and flake.
things that do:
the one friend that showed up and put in about five grueling hours.
things that don't:
having to move about 40x more than you're safely capable of doing, and being so exhausted at this point that all you can do is lay on the floor (As your mattress has been packed) and twitch, getting up to rant on lj because that's the only thing left to do and you can still bum a wireless connection from the neighbor.
things that do:
having an lj to bitch on.
things that don't: having no idea where your nifty MRI-on-a-cd ended up.
things that do:
the local/close grocery store being open twentyfo' hours AND having the lock you need to secure your moving truck.
things that don't: having done a lot more of the heavy lifting than you thought you would, being unable to do all of the things you needed to do- like packing up loose stuff.
things that do:
even when you lose cognitive awareness of your legs, you still have spatial awareness out the wazoo and can pack your truck like a mofo. yes- because mofos pack. they often pack in the butt, but still. (ain't that the best kind? packing IDB?)
things that don't:
trying to figure out a way to tactfully respond to your ex-advisor turned current adhoc committee member when he asks how his son (and friends) helped you load the truck when, uh, they didn't show up and son didn't respond to IM's sent over three days, two emails, and a phonecall.
things that do:
getting the fuck out of this place.
