FAILED PRIVATE TO SELF.
I still don't really know how to do this privacy charm properly, but I guess it's worth a try for an entry that's probably best left private, but that I wouldn't mind too much if everyone else could read it too. Hello there, if you can read this even though technically, you're not supposed to! But that's all right, so don't worry about it.
After that awful -- that doesn't seem like the right word, but I can't think if anything that really captures how terrible it was -- news about Minister Shacklebolt the last time I wrote in my journal, I completely forgot that the next day was supposed to be a DA founding anniversary. I think Mum and Dad may have had something planned, but they must have called it off after what happened. I wonder if that was the right and respectful thing to do, or if it would have been better to do it anyway to show that people who do these sorts of things can't stop life from going on. Or maybe it was just a practical thing because most people wouldn't show up anyway after something like that?
I wonder what's going to happen now. I mean, aside from the Wizengamot electing a new Minister for Magic this week. I asked Mum and Dad what they think might happen next or what they think the right thing to do now would be, but I don't think they're really sure. I hope that's not a bad thing, but I think I'm a little worried. I always thought that since they went through the war and were so heroic about it, they'd know what the right thing to do would be. I bet Dad's parents would have known. And Gran must know too, since she knows everything. Maybe I'm expecting too much from them, since they're great people, but just people like all of us too.

I hope this isn't disrespectful for me to write about right now -- and I'm really really sorry if it is and I hope I didn't hurt anyone's feelings -- but one of the younger Hufflepuffs said that her older sister who works at the Ministry whose parents also worked at the Ministry during the Second War said that everything that's going on right now means there might be a Third War soon, since the last time something like this happened, there was a coup and everything got about as bad as it could get.
Do you think she might be right? I could be wrong, but things are different now than they were then, right? Like there isn't a war already going on like last time when a Minister was killed by Death Eaters? And there's a real election for the next Minister for Magic being run by the Wizengamot that everyone knows about because it's being reported in the Daily Prophet? And the Daily Prophet isn't evil like it was last time too? Is 'evil' really the right word?
I can't quite tell who the best person for the job would be either. They all sound like they'll do a good job in their own ways if elected, and the Wizengamot wouldn't make a bad decision, would it? I guess we'll know by the end of this week. I'm sure it will all work out in the end though!
