Kinda sucks right now, I'm burning out from lack of sleep but some good news is that two of my poems are being published, they'll be posted at the end of this entry. Since no one wants to respond on the Avalon OOC board then I'll post it here. I'll be home in a month and a few weeks for R&R, it's 15 days long. I'll be in Raleigh, Wilmington, and Greenville. If you want to hang you then send me an e-mail or post it here and I will try and get something worked out. If you don't say anything then I'll assume you don't want to do anything and I won't bother. Some people I have plans with already and others are changing constantly so I need to get some semblance of a plan down.
A Soldier Dies
Screams echo and rifles crack
Overhead the carrions fly
From this battle he won't come back
All at once does a soldier die
A single letter dashes his hope
Privately at night he cries
She can't wait, she just can't cope
Piece by piece a soldier dies
To joyous cheers he steps from the plane
A bright sun shines in a clear blue sky
None know the wounds he hides, none know the pain
For the rest of his life the soldier will die
For duty honor country they give their lives
Who will mourn when a soldier dies
A Soldier's Song
Pray for me, my love, the bugle was heard last night.
I'll hold you near after bags are packed.
Kiss me, my love, your soldiers joining the fight.
Remember me, my love for you has never lacked.
Don't cry my love, let the children see you smile.
One wants to be like daddy, the other too young to choose.
Take care of your mom, son; I have to leave for a while.
The princess only knows that her daddy she's about to lose.
Kiss her for me, when you tuck her into bed.
The time will come, she'll ask where her daddy's gone.
Tell her not to worry and lay down her sweet head.
He's gone to war, then sing her our bedtime song.
When the sun has set and the moon glows in the heavens high
Dream of me, for with love I watch the same sky.
