[Stupid Computer... Stupid Human...]
How depressing is this, close to a 3 months after I got my computer it's down for the count. Changing the BIOS settings didn't change a thing. Dad and I worked at it furiously for 2 or 3 more days and then I had had enough. Dad suggested that I just go out and buy a new processor and/or motherboard. -_- Not bloodly likely. As ignorant as this may sound it's true, I'm studborn and im gonna get it to work no matter what. Yes, I know if I return the computer it's not going to be the original pieces working. Though, I'll get more and better, satisfaction from retuning it and getting new hardware, rather then going out and buying something new.
Dad is big on returning stuff if that doesn't work. Though in this case Dad thought that it would cost more to return the computer then it would to just go out and buy the exact same stuff at local dealer. Would it have? More then likely not, since it would cost something around +$100 to get something new.
I emailed
Mwave to see if I'd beable to return the computer. Dad told me to see what I'd have to send back. I thought I would just have to return the items that I thought were defective. It turns out that I had to retun everything that was sent to me... -_- Hurray... I wasn't about to send back my keyboard. They more then likely have an over-abundance of those. Anyway, with the return number that received in their reply, I have 15 days to get the hardward to them. Otherwise they wont look at it I guess. Not really sure why they do that.
Anyway, I get it all packed up. I went to set the packed box onto the ground and accidently dropped it no more then 4 inches off the ground. I then realized that I had forgoten to include a copy of the Invoice and I had to open the whole thing back up. I ended up opening the computer chase too see if the processor fan was still attatched. I believe I had packed it so that sucker wouldn't have come off in the unlikely event of it being in an earthquake. Maybe not that securely but I thought I had packed it pretty damn well. To my dismay it was dislodged. So I had to back the processor fan in bubble wrap and tape it into the hard drive bay area so that it wouldnt cause anymore damage to the motherboard and other components. I wrote a message on the Invoice telling Mwave to insure that the procesor fan was not attatced to the motherboard on return shippment. That's the only thing that's making me nervous. If they don't it'll be the first shipment all over again. *sigh*
I looked at 3 different places to ship:
UPS,
FedEX and the
US Postal Service. I was a little reluctant to send my fragile package via US Postal, but in the end I chose them. That and I had no idea and I wasn't to enthused to make a long trip to one of the UPS or FedEX package places. Since all of the "convenient" locations are just for letters and small packages. -_- Anyway, it was only $34 bucks for shipping and then an additional $2.50 for $200 dollars worth of insurance. I really should have paid the extra $1.25 or what ever it was to get an additional $100. Live and learn I guess. Not that I would have needed that much, but it's a little comforting to know that I do have the insurance.
So, now I just have to wait... -_- I hate waiting. Mwave more then likely got it on Monday. I sent it express, which would have got it there in 2 to 3 days. Since I sent it on Thursday, it wouldn't have been devlivered on Saturday. Hopefully they'll have seen the problems that I've been seeing and have the new parts and such to be sent back to me at the end of the week. -_- Who knows how long it's going to take... Anyway, I'm just glad that this is going to be overwith.
[Anime]
"Love Hina" is so awsome. I believe it was the 28th of this month that I went to
SunCoast to just look around. It's been around 3 or 4 months since I've set foot in that store. They had come close to completely rearranging everything. They had a section completey devoted to anime. I almost broke down in tears of joy right there (not really but I was pretty happy and enthused). They had all 5 Love Hina DVDs there. Lucky I displayed alot of self-restraint there, believe you me. Also luckily for me, a spinning rack of manga (oooo... pretties) distracted me from the DVDs. I looked through the rack spellbound and found they had many recognizable series: "Oh, My Goddess," "Gundam Wing," "Neon Gensis Evangelion," "X: 1999," "Gunsmith Cats," "Sailor Moon," "Angel" and a few others. As I continued looked through them I found the "Love Hina" Manga! Part of the reason that I like this series so much is due to the fact that the story line hits pretty close to home. Anyway, One of the employees noticed me drooling over them and stated, "You know that those manga are buy one and get the second half off right?" Being drawn out of the spell that the manga had me in for a second, I automaticly and responded drone like, "Yup." This seemed to only empower the spell that the half-priced managa had over me. I could almost hear it whispering, "Buy me, if you buy one of me you get a second half price. What could be better then that?" Needless to say that I succumb and I slurged the money to buy the manga. I had to get the 1st and the 3rd graphic novel. They didn't have the 2nd in stock. :/
I went back the follwing Friday, since it was the first and we all know what came out then. As I walked in the DVD was sitting right there in the front entrance. I picked up the "Spider-Man" widescreen speical edition. Then I started to hear the voices again. They were calling me over, back over to the rack. I couldn't resist and seemingly subconsciously I wondered over to the anime section and to the rack. I wasnt able to resist the calling any more then I was able to before. :/ They still didn't have the 2nd in stock. So I ended up getting the 4th and 5th.
What's really sad is that another date is comming up quickly. On the 10th the "Lord of the Ring: Fellowship of the Ring" extended edition (aka Director's Cut) is being released. @_@ There's no way I'll beable to put off getting another install ment of the "Love Hina" manga. :/ At this rate I'll to get another job, but more on that in a bit.
[Movies]
"Spider-Man"
Come on, the story line kicks ass and the end. OMG THE ENDING. In my opinion to many of our cultures stories end happy. Not all of lifes stories end happy, it's a fact of life. Anyway, I HAD to add this to my collection.
"Lord of the Ring: Fellowship of the Ring Extended Edition (aka Director's Cut)"
There's no way in hell anyone is stopping me from aquireing this. An army of rabid undead badgers (oh teh horror) couldn't prevent me from purchasing this movie. I'm torn between getting just the DVD and the gift set. Though, I'm pretty sure I know which is gonna win and it isn't going to be the giftset.
[School]
Well I'm pretty much whipped up for this comming semester.
Though... I already have 12 credit planned out that I really wanna take... I'm caught between adding more and changing the ones I have. I want to add another computer graphics class... and I feel kind of guilty not taking another math class this semester... I really should take another math class... 15 credits... that might just turn out to be hell... but I'm very determined to make this happen... Oh the horror... I'm so glad 16 credits isn't considered a full load... I really don't have as many slack off classes as I did...
As of last night this is what I have planned:
US History II
HIST 1302
M, W, F
11:00am-11:50am
3-D Modeling & Rendering
ARTC 1345
M, W
2:50pm-5:30pm
English Composition II
ENGL 1302
T, TH
10:35am-11:50am
Fundamentals of Programming
COSC 1315
T, TH
Lec 9:10am-10:25am
Lab 8:10am-9:00am tuesday
I haven't even looked at the possible times for math classes. I'm not all that excited about another math class. I used to like that subject so much. :/ Anyway, the other computer art class was ARTC 2305 (Digital Printing and Imaging), which works with Adobe Photoshop. The more I think about it the more I think I should switch "3-D Modeling & Rendering" with "Digital Printing and Imaging." At some point I would also like to take Japanese, but that'll more then likely have to come later.
I starting to whein myself away from the possiblity of programming I think. I'll defintately take a few programming corses, but I don't think that's the thing for me.
The more I look at these corses the more I think I should talk to someone in the counseling department. I never really did get a formal counseling session when I signed up for classes the first time. I got the email address of the counselers at Cypress Creek. I'll email them and express my concerns. Then if they would like to scheduel a time for me to come in then that'd be fine.
[Job]
Well I guess that the job at Sclumberger is drawing to a close. The next shipment is more then likely the last few that we're going to have to be transfering data for the developers. There might be a few more shippments but those will more then likely be ones that are just to be delivered.
With as much spending as I've done in the past week or so I should really look into getting a job during the school year. Not that I won't have enough money for the comming semester, just that I'd like to have some additional spending cash. Well not only that, but it wouldn't hurt to start saving up for some wheels. -_- *sigh*
I think I had mentioned this before, but I've been thinking about this lately. Anyway, Mom mentioned that she and Dad had talked a lil bit about co-signing a loan or something so that I could get a car and then I'd take over payments or something. That wouldnt be sucha a bad thing.
Anyway, I've thought of a few different places that I'd like to work.
Dragon's Lair or
SunCoast. Places with high traffic such as fast food or grocery stores won't do. I'd most definately loose my mind.
