What an awful experince

OMG!!! Ok, I instilled Premiere awhie ago, like a month or so, I didn't have any problems. This past weeks is when I started installing all programs for editing videos and other related .DLLs. When I started to edit the videos my computer started to act strange.

At first it thought it was just a my computer straining since it's a p2 500mhz with 256 meg of ram, so I burshed it off. Then my mouse started to act strange. Then yesterday when I had Premiere open every 15 to 20 minutes my mouse would spontaneously start jumping all over the screen whenever I would move it. Also when I moved the mouse it seems like I was repeatedly pressing buttons when I wasnt.

I asked dad about it and he said he'd seen this problem before with the mouse, but just couldnt remember what was wrong and how to fix it. Then that night I lost ALL functionality with the mouse!! I tried a different PS/2 mouse, that didnt work. I tried a seral mouse, that didnt worh either. I thought that maybe it was just something to do with the drivers or something so I rebooted the computer. When it came backup I still had no mouse. Then I tried uninstalling the drivers that came with the Logitech mouse and reinstalling them. After I installed the drivers windows prompted me for a reboot, this was win2k which really didnt need it but i was willing to comply due to how frustrated I was. When I said ok to the reboot it flashed some sort of .DDL error and then rebooted.

I had run out of ideas short of wiping the hard drive and starting all over. Since it was late I went to bed. When I got upthis morning I turned on the computer to see if my mouse would work now. Well not to my surpise the mouse didnt work. I tried installing the logitech mouse drivers again to see if that'd work. I remembered how dang slow the stupid floppy drive technology was and just copyed the disks to mikes computer and then copied them my computer via the LAN. Holy crap! I love our 100/megbit connection between Mike and my computer. :D

Anyway, I install the drivers, reboot and the blasted thing still doesnt work. >_< So I shut down the computer, go down stairs and have come breakfast. After I've eaten I come backup stairs and thought, "What the hell I'll try using the serial port converter for my mouse and see if that works." I find my converter plug it in to the serial port and bootup. Low and behold it works! ... -_-;

Now, I thought about this for a second. Why I didnt try that before I have no idea. I know I knew that you need to shut down the computer before changing hardware, but I've changed mouses while the computer was still on it it still worked. So I dont know why it didnt work last night. Maybe it was because my mouse PS/2 connector just upand failed for some god awful reason (which was probably the dll's that I installed). It probably more then likely still works I jut have to get rid of those .DLL's. Anyway, my mouse works now so it's all good. For a little bit this morning I thought that I wasnt going to have to wait till the end of the summer to upgrade my system and that I'd have to do it with in the next week or so. I'm releaved that I dont have to do that.
