Letterman just nailed McCain for his relationship with one G. Gordon Liddy, in response to McCain's repeated insistence that Obama "pals around with terrorists." G. Gordon Liddy, if you don't know, is famously the mastermind of the Watergate break ins and felon of course. Liddy is noted for controversial advice to his nationally syndicated radio show audience, including on one occasion in 1994, after the federal raid on the Branch Davidian compound in Waco, Texas, Liddy advised his listeners: "Now if the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms comes to disarm you and they are bearing arms, resist them with arms. Go for a head shot; they're going to be wearing bulletproof vests. ... Kill the sons of bitches."
McCain is, in fact, a friend of Liddy's, having appeared on his radio show many times over the years and having even attended a campaign fundraiser in his honor at Liddy's house in Potomac MD. McCain's relationship with Liddy is demonstrably more substantive than Obama's with Bill Ayers, so can we stop hearing about Bill Ayers now?
