When a Song Mellows

Up early after about 15hrs much needed sleep and was washing a weeks worth of dirty dishes and thinking about recording some more songs that I haven't done much with for a while. I had a liitle play with them and my guitar yesterday and noticed how they had mellowed somewhat. I was thinking about that just now. They seem to be a little more effortless. Why is that? I think that sometimes when you write a song it sort of bursts out of you and there is all this unexpressed emotion and craziness and you kind of go a bit hard core in the delivery... over time this settles a bit. I don't think that you are any further from the emotion, may you've just come to terms with it a little and a song can become a memory as well as an emotional barometer.
